About Nadia Marina

I’m a multi-hyphenate storyteller with over 18 years of experience.

As a working actor in Hollywood I have always felt compelled to pass on the wisdom I gained inside the industry and within the art form.

I graduated from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in Hollywood, CA with a Bachelors of Fine Arts (BFA) in Acting for Musical Theater and Film. I continued my training at the Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB) for improv and took scene study classes from top studios in Los Angeles.

I began my teaching career soon after college at The Young Actors Studio by teaching young children improvisation basics. Soon after I expanded my teaching by offering scene study and advanced improv workshops at various schools and theater companies throughout Los Angeles.

With a passion for theater I was accepted as a member in the acting company at Theatre of NOTE and at Echo Theater Company. There I learned to cast, produce, and direct new and original plays. Having starred on stage for both companies and for productions at Casa 0101 and The Centre Theater Group, I developed a talent for script development and earned an internship at Citizen Skull Productions. Through reviewing hundreds of scripts I learned about character development and the process of turning a script into a production. During my tenure in Los Angeles I also starred in various commercials and independent films but my heart always belonged to the stage and to forming the next generation of actors.

More about the classes I teach

Classes are located at Open Arts Factory in the old city center of El Puerto de Santa María.

Most classes are taught in English, but I will translate to Spanish for the Spanish-speakers in the class. The bilingual classes are surprisingly smooth and we all learn to have fun in both languages!

List of Classes

Improv 1

Learn the beginnings of short form improv! You will gain confidence in building unique characters using the power of your imagination. Together you will build short stories and play games that supports teamwork and communication. Great for committing to your goal of unlocking your imagination and confidence!

Improv 2

Expand upon your knowledge of improv! Here we will work together to build out several distinctly different characters, create longer stories, and explore bringing in spatial elements and musicality. For graduates of improv 1 and are 18+ years old.

Acting - Scene Study

In this class you will be challenged with studying a character and bringing that character to life in a scene with another actor using existing material. You will have to learn how to understand a writer’s intention, build a character’s backstory, take direction, learn to actively listen to your scene partner, and bring a unique individuality to the role.

Starting with neutral scenes then moving to published works, this progressive course explores and grows your capabilities as an actor. You will be assigned a scene partner so regular attendance is encouraged.

This class is for people 18 years or older and runs for 6 weeks.

English Class for the Actor

Whether you have an audition for an upcoming theater or film production or just want to book some extra time to work on your accent and understanding of the script, I am here to support you!

If you don’t have an active script that you are working on but still want to keep practicing your skills, don’t worry. I will assign you scripts with appropriate casting to keep you skill improving in both acting and in language acquisition.

I look forward to working with you and helping you bridge across the Spanish and English entertainment industries!
